Biography

Lauren Clary, Ph.D., is the clinical psychologist for the Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Clary works with parents and children ranging from young children through young adults experiencing a wide range of challenges including difficulties adjusting to their diagnosis or to completing daily diabetes management tasks. Dr. Clary also participates in the First STEPS research project providing clinical consultation to families of young children newly diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

She is also an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine. Her research interests include Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes management, coping with chronic illness and adherence to chronic illness.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, hiking and traveling.
