Kirtida Mistry, M.D., completed training in pediatric nephrology at Children's Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School. She is clinical associate professor of pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. She is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric nephrology. She serves as medical director of the Children's National Health System Dialysis Program, providing leadership in the care of patients with advanced kidney disease, especially those requiring dialysis. She passionately strives to improve patient outcomes, with a focus on quality improvement, patient safety, education and advocacy.

Dr. Mistry has a special interest in the bone and cardiovascular health of children with kidney disease. She initiated the Hypertension Clinic at Children's National. This clinic provides comprehensive care to those children with suspected or diagnosed high blood pressure, with a focus on evaluation, investigation and management of hypertension. The clinic performs 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography in association with the Cardiology service and consultation with the dietitian.

Dr. Mistry also is passionate about enhancing the education of trainees and nurses at Children's National. She was awarded the Golden Apple Award 2011-2012 by the Pediatric House Staff Association for excellence in teaching. She is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology and serves on their Training and Certification Committee. She also is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, International Pediatric Nephrology Association, and the International Pediatric Dialysis Network.
