About the Provider

Irene Chatoor, MD, is the Director of the Infant and Toddler Mental Health Program at Children’s National Hospital. She is also professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the George Washington University and Vice Chair in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Children’s National.

Dr. Chatoor is a world-renowned expert in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood feeding difficulties. She is the author of two books titled, "When Your Child Won't Eat or Eats Too Much" and "Diagnosis and Treatment of Feeding Disorders," geared towards pediatricians and professionals working with children who have feeding difficulties. As an advocate in early childhood feeding and eating interventions, Dr. Chatoor speaks nationally and across Asia, Europe and the South and Central Americas, to clinicians about young children's feeding problems. Dr. Chatoor also developed the classifications for different types and treatments of feeding disorders in children.

She received her MD from the Ruperto-Carola University in Heidelberg, Germany and completed residencies in pediatrics, psychiatry and a fellowship in child psychiatry at Children's National and the George Washington University Medical Center. She also completed internships at City Hospital, Ambert City Hospital and Providence Hospital.

Dr. Chatoor is board-certified in psychiatry, child psychiatry and pediatrics.
