Enrique Escalante, M.D., M.S.H.S., was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. He came to the United States at age 18 to attend college at Fairfield University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in management information systems and operations management. After college, he worked as a project manager at a Fortune 500 company for six years and, during that time, also completed the post-baccalaureate, pre-medical program at Columbia University. Dr. Escalante attended medical school at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, and subsequently completed a pediatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He then moved to Washington, D.C., to complete a fellowship in pediatric hospitalist medicine at Children’s National Health System.
Following the fellowship, Dr. Escalante joined the faculty at Children’s National. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he serves as the Director of Diversity Recruitment and Inclusion for the pediatric residency program, as well as the Medical Unit Director for Pharmacy.
