Biography

Eleanor Mackey, Ph.D., is a general child psychologist with Children’s National Hospital, and a member of Children's Obesity Institute. She is associate professor of psychiatry & behavioral sciences and pediatrics (with award of tenure) at the George Washington University School of Medicine & Health Sciences. Dr. Mackey, who has worked with children and teens for many years, works with those who struggle with eating and weight concerns. Some of these areas include: problems with being overweight, disordered eating and unsafe weight loss behaviors.

Dr. Mackey earned a Ph.D. from the University of Miami, where her research focused on peer influences on teens’ eating, exercise and weight control behaviors. As part of her Ph.D. program, she completed an internship and subsequently her fellowship residency at Children’s National from 2006-2009, where she is now on the faculty as part of the Division of Psychology, one of the largest psychology teams in the region focused exclusively on children and teens.
