About the Provider
Alexandra Brugler Yonts, MD, (she/her), is an attending physician in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Children's National and is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Yonts completed her pediatric residency and was a chief resident at the University of California, Davis and completed her pediatric infectious diseases fellowship here in D.C. as part of the combined Children's National/US Food and Drug Administration program. She received her medical degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine.
Her main research and clinical interests are in the areas of vaccines and novel antimicrobial therapies, post-infectious neuroinflammatory disorders such as Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM), medical staff and trainee (student/resident/fellow) well-being and antimicrobial stewardship, as well as general pediatric infectious diseases.
Dr. Yonts enjoys baking, hiking, traveling to visit family and friends, going to sporting events with her husband and ringing in a community handbell choir.
