2016 Sheikh Zayed Institute UAE Student Innovators

Encouraging Medical Education

The Sheikh Zayed Institute's Student Innovator Program encourages young Emiratis to pursue careers in medicine and pediatric healthcare innovation.

The Sheikh Zayed Institute Story

The Government of Abu Dhabi made an unprecedented gift of $150 million in September 2009 to create the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation. The Sheikh Zayed Institute opened its doors in April 2011, pushing the boundaries of innovation to make pediatric surgery more precise, less invasive, and pain free.

The Sheikh Zayed Institute in collaboration with United Arab Emirate government, medical, and university partners has achieved extraordinary success in its first five years. These accomplishments are built on a strong partnership of more than 20 years and a shared vision to improve children’s health around the world.

We are united in providing high quality patient care, medical education, and scientific and technological solutions. The active exchange of knowledge and expertise between health care experts in the UAE and at Children’s National is key to our work. The UAE’s forward-thinking perspective keeps us focused on the future and how we can continue to improve the outcomes and quality of healthcare for all our children.
