Art Therapy
Fostering a Sense of Community
Our trained art therapists offer resources like nature art therapy in the Healing Garden and gallery displays to give children the opportunity to express themselves through creative activities. Our programs are made to complement the care children are receiving on their health journey.
Art therapy (according to the American Art Therapy Association) is a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression helps people to resolve conflicts and problems, develop interpersonal skills, manage behavior, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and achieve insight.
Art therapists are professionals who hold a master’s degree in art therapy and are credentialed, board certified and in many cases, licensed.
