Neha Shah, M.D., M.P.H., is an associate division chief at Children’s National Hospital and associate professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. As a former graduate and now director of the Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM) Fellowship Program at Children’s National, she has been intimately involved with curriculum development as well as program assessment. Nationally, she has played an instrumental role in the recognition of PHM as a subspecialty of the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). Specifically, she has served as chair for the Council of PHM Fellowship Directors, wrote portions of the petition for certification submitted to the ABP and now serves on the inaugural PHM Subboard of the ABP. She is passionate about mentorship and coaching for PHM trainees and faculty with a specific interest in maintaining joy and well-being in academic medicine.
