Biography

Marlet Bazemore, M.D., M.P.H., graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She then completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Cincinnati School of Medicine. She completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Bazemore joined the academic faculty of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati Department of Ophthalmology as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology for several years before coming to Children's National Hospital.

With an interest in clinical effectiveness, she earned a Masters in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health, while on faculty at Cincinnati Children's Medical Center. She now serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, while caring for patients at Children's National.

Dr. Bazemore's particular pediatric ophthalmology interests are strabismus and cataracts. She organized a surgical mission trip to Honduras in 2003 and continues to participate in surgical mission trips to under-resourced populations in the developing world.
