Kaushal Amatya, Ph.D., is a affiliate faculty member of the Child Health Advocacy Institute and a pediatric psychologist for the Nephrology and Advanced Cardiac Therapies services at Children’s National Hospital, and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Pediatrics at the George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences. His clinical interests include interventions to improve medical adherence, adjustment to diagnosis and treatment and readiness for transition to adult care. He also provides services targeting emotional/behavioral difficulties and adaptive functioning problems. Dr. Amatya’s research interests include quality of life assessment, barriers to adherence and psychosocial factors associated with adherence and long-term adjustment in pediatric transplant patients and their families. He received his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA and B.S. in Psychology from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, TX. Dr. Amatya completed his pediatric psychology training at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
