Eric Rosenthal, M.D., M.P.H., graduated from Haverford College with a degree in political science and pursued a career in public affairs. After 14 years in local and federal politics, serving as a congressional staffer and political director for the Human Rights Campaign Fund, he went to medical school. He received his medical degree as well as a master of public health degree from the George Washington University.
Dr. Rosenthal was a pediatric resident at Children’s National Hospital, and continues to treat patients as a physician in the Emergency Department. His position of medical director for municipal and regional affairs in the Child Health Advocacy Institute combines his experience in politics with his medical/clinical background. Dr. Rosenthal trains pediatric residents in health policy and advocacy while also working on childhood vaccination and oral health. He assists with Children’s National’s healthcare for children in foster care programs. Dr. Rosenthal also serves on the D.C. Child Abuse Review Committee and the D.C. Child Fatality Review Committee.
