Claire Boogaard, M.D., M.P.H., is a clinical pediatrician at the Children's National Children's Health Center at THEARC. Dr. Boogaard has held a variety of leadership roles in resident and fellow education, clinic management, and administration, most recently as the medical director of the COVID-19 Vaccine Program for the hospital.
Dr. Boogaard has shown commitment to building a trauma-informed community clinic, working hard to create programming and systems that work to meet the needs of the community. She has created teaching tools for staff and students on trauma-informed care and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and led the ACEs screening initiative. Through her role as the Healthy Steps physician lead at THEARC, she has worked to create a system of referral for children 0-5 years old who need developmental support or case management assistance. As interim medical director, she helped lead the transition of the clinic through a move that quadrupled their space, adding dental and subspecialty care. She is now partnering with colleagues across Children’s National on research to help optimize the utilization of the two mobile medical units that are operated out of the clinic.
Dr. Boogaard has also shown a great commitment to medical education, currently serving as the rotation lead for the LAUnCH track residents at THEARC and the clinical advisor for the General Academic Pediatrics Fellow.
