Caroline Wright, M.D., M.S. is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Children’s National Hospital. She joined the Division of Anesthesiology, Pain, and Perioperative Medicine after completing her pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at Children’s National. She has an interest in anesthesia for spinal fusion surgery and is also proud to be part of the Preoperative Care Clinic team. She is passionate about providing excellent care for patients in the perioperative setting.
Dr. Wright also serves as medical director of Informatics and has led the implementation of several initiatives including electronic documentation for anesthesia providers, electronic positive patient identification for intraoperative transfusions, and secure texting for providers. In this role, she has also acted as a liaison between IT and clinician teams and has been awarded for her leadership efforts. In 2014, she received both the Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Joseph E. Roberts Center for Surgical Care and the CLAW Partnership Award for Collaboration, Leadership, Advancement, and Work Ethic from the Bear Institute for Health Innovation for her leadership on perioperative informatics initiatives. She was named a “Reducing Harm Hero” at Children’s National in 2015 for her work helping Quality Improvement teams monitor intraoperative antibiotic administration using the EHR. In addition to being board certified in Anesthesiology and Pediatric Anesthesiology, Dr. Wright became board certified in Clinical Informatics in 2018 and earned a master of science degree in health and clinical and informatics from Oregon Health & Sciences University in 2021.
