Innovative Phase 1 Trial to Protect the Brains of Infants with Critical Congenital Heart Disease During and After Surgery (MEDCAP)


A phase 1 trial at Children's National Hospital studies the use of mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) as a potential protection for the brains of infants undergoing cardiac surgery. This is the first study to infuse these MSCs via the cardiopulmonary bypass, or heart-lung machine.
