Virtual reality in healthcare education and assessment

The landscape of Virtual Reality in 2018 has rapidly changed and its commercialization efforts are affecting both the entertainment world and the healthcare arena, across the US and the world. It shares some similar and unique challenges to the enterprise and scholarship within healthcare as prior new technologies, including CD-ROMs, the internet, social media, and telemedicine. This presentation will give a brief background on current and proposed technology advances and how healthcare and healthcare training is currently affected, using both a futurist and an evidence-based approach to the available technology. An example of our collaboration for resuscitation simulation in VR is provided.
