The impact of domestic violence on children

Domestic violence continues to occur at an alarming rate across the United States. Children are often present in the home for these events and are at a substantial risk of suffering severe physical and/or emotional harm. Healthcare providers are often in a unique position to identify children residing in violent home environments and to engage community partners in working to mitigate the harmful effects of violence exposure and trauma.
