The federal government’s role in advancing disaster preparedness for children
Everyone involved in the everyday health care of children at home, in clinic, and in the hospital has an important role in advancing our nation’s preparedness to care for children after a disaster. As we have seen numerous times, there may be no warning that a normal day is about to turn into a situation that will strain the healthcare system to its breaking point. The Federal government has a key role in supporting this readiness and ensuring that children age 0-17, who make up nearly a quarter of our population, have the best chance possible for a good outcome after a crisis.
