Clinician burnout, engagement, resilience, activation and grit
Dr. Thomas H. Lee, Press Ganey's Chief Medical Officer, is the lead speaker for Patient and Family Experience Week at Children's National. He will speak on clinician burnout, engagement, resilience, activation and grit.
Two of the most pressing challenges in health care are improving patient experience and sustaining clinician resilience in the face of mounting pressures from the marketplace and growing complexity of what medicine can do. Data will be presented that show patient experience and clinician resilience are not in tension—that they tend to improve or deteriorate together. A framework for breaking down the causes of clinician burnout, and mounting a multi-pronged response will be presented. How these issues relate to the increasingly discussed concept of “grit” for individuals, teams, and organization will be discussed.
