The 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa was the largest Ebola outbreak in history. Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) officers were deployed to multiple affected counties as part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) response to the outbreak. As boots on the ground, their field experiences provide a snapshot of the important role of public health experts in challenging global health emergencies.
