Randi Streisand, Ph.D., appointed Chief of Psychology and Behavioral Health

WASHINGTON – Children’s National Health System today announced that Randi Streisand, Ph.D., will become the chief of Psychology and Behavioral Health.  Dr. Streisand, a respected expert in the field, has served as the interim chief of Children’s Psychology and Behavioral Health since November 2017. During Streisand’s 18-year career at Children’s National, her work has focused on helping parents and children adjust to living with chronic conditions, training and mentoring students and conducting research. Her research related to childhood diabetes is funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH).

“The work that Streisand has done as interim chief of  Psychology and Behavioral Health has been exceptional, and we’re excited that the best candidate was here at Children’s National,” says Roger J. Packer, M.D., senior vice president of the Center for Neuroscience and Behavioral Medicine. “Streisand’s leadership will play an integral part in our efforts to advance research methods and to provide comprehensive approaches to psychological treatments.”

Before joining Children’s National in 2000, Streisand received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Florida, completed her internship at Brown University and a fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She has written numerous publications in the areas of child health and serves on several grant review committees through Children’s National, the NIH and the American Diabetes Association. At Children’s National, she is an active participant in the psychology training program, and she mentors undergraduates, graduate students, interns, fellows and junior faculty members.
