Children suffer from urinary stones like adults but, when they do, there is a higher likelihood of finding a treatable cause. Stones can form because of infection, problems with calcium or uric acid metabolism or dehydration. As part of the surgical management of urinary stones, your child will be evaluated for treatable causes of stones and referred to nephrology for further care.
