CHAI Community Mental Health CORE

The Child Health Advocacy Institute’s Community Mental Health CORE (Collaboration, Outreach, Research, Equity) works with partners to improve mental health outcomes for all children in Washington, D.C.

Our approach focuses on both individual children and families and also on systems-level internal and external partnerships with educators, healthcare providers, civic leaders, family-run organizations and the community to co‐create innovative, evidence‐informed approaches that truly make a difference in outcomes for children and families.

Our goal is to improve access to and utilization of high-quality mental health care for all children and their families.

Equity

Our goal is to serve as a catalyst to achieve racial and health equity throughout all aspects of our work.

Sustainability

Our goal is to ensure that programs and interventions are scalable and enduring through research, policy, advocacy and systems change.

We lead infrastructure building initiatives, develop enabling services to connect families to high-quality care and launch innovative models to deliver direct services.

We would like to improve access, equity and sustainability of high-quality mental health care.

How do we do it?

Through partnerships, policy and advocacy, research and evaluation, and by providing technical assistance and education.
