Deepa Rastogi, M.D., M.S.

  • Professor, Pediatrics and Genomics and Precision Medicine
    • M.S., Clinical and Translational Research Methods, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY (2008-2010)
    • M.B.B.S., Medicine, GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, India (1987-1993)
  • Deepa Rastogi, M.D. is a pediatric pulmonologist with a research interest in childhood asthma. She received her medical degree in India after which she immigrated to the U.S. where she completed her residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at the Children's Hospital of New York Presbyterian, Columbia University.

The Rastogi lab is investigating the immune mechanisms that underlie urban minority childhood asthma, with a current focus on obesity-related asthma. Having shown that systemic inflammation associated with obesity-related asthma in children is non-atopic, and is influenced by metabolic abnormalities, the Rastogi lab is investigating a) the role of epigenetics in establishing the non-atopic immune patterns among obese children with asthma, b) the mechanisms by which metabolic abnormalities are associated with the non-atopic immune response and c) the mechanisms that link systemic non-atopic immune responses with airway disease.
