Brynn Marks, M.D., MS-HPEd, experiences as a person living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) have helped to shape her interest in diabetes management and medical education. Although research studies show improvements in glycemic control with decreased acute and chronic complications in patients using insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors (CGM) to manage T1D, these same benefits have not been seen with real world use. Dr. Marks aims to combine her clinical experiences with the skills learned while obtaining a Masters in Health Science Professions Education to optimize both patient and provider knowledge of these technologies. She has focused on developing and assessing the impact of online spaced educational curricula entitled Technology Knowledge Optimization in Type 1 Diabetes or TeKnO T1D. She is also interested in expanding the use of these diabetes technologies to other types of diabetes including cystic fibrosis related diabetes (CFRD).
