Children's National is receiving materials from an external provider.
The Children's faculty or staff person requesting the materials is responsible for obtaining a copy of the Provider’s Material Transfer Agreement and filling out the appropriate information. The Principal Investigator will also complete a copy of the Children’s Research Institute Inbound Material Transfer Agreement Review Form. The completed Provider MTA and Inbound MTA Review Form will be submitted to Ben Cohen in the Office of Innovation Development (OID). He can be reached at MTA@childrensnational.org (link sends e-mail).
Upon receipt of a completed Provider MTA and Inbound MTA Review Form, the OID will forward to the appropriate Children’s Research Institute/Children’s National departments for review and approval (examples: Legal, BioSafety, Research Animal Facility, Grants & Contracts). Legal must review all inbound MTAs.
- If the inbound MTA is accepted without change by legal counsel: OID will obtain the required institutional signatures. All MTAs must be signed by the Institutional Signing Authority. Once fully executed by internal parties, the Office of Innovation will forward to the Provider to obtain a fully executed copy. Upon receipt of the fully executed copy, OID will forward a copy to legal, the requesting faculty/staff member, and all other relevant parties.
- If an inbound is determined to require further negotiations by legal counsel: The areas of concern will be discussed with the Principal Investigator. The Principal Investigator in conjunction with legal counsel will negotiate an acceptable form of the Material Transfer Agreement with the providing institution or company. Legal counsel or provider will forward the finalized MTA to OID for obtaining the required institutional signatures. Once fully executed by internal parties, OID will forward to the Provider to obtain a fully executed copy. Upon receipt of the fully executed copy, OID will forward a copy to legal, the requesting faculty/staff member and all other relevant parties.
Once a fully executed Material Transfer Agreement has been obtained by OID, the materials may be requested from the external provider.
