Opportunity exists to work within the Complex Care Program service line, which is a primary care medical home for children with complex, systemic, medical problems, who have frequent or prolonged hospitalizations and use mechanical devices to treat their conditions. The Complex Care Program will provide a comprehensive experience in both pediatric/behavioral medicine psychology and integrated care. In addition, interested bilingual (Spanish and English) applicants can complete their externship through our Latinx serving, bilingual clinic. Supervision with a bilingual, bicultural psychologist is a part of this experience.
Required extern experiences include:
- Outpatient behavioral health consultation with children, adolescent, young adults and families regarding general mental health concerns. Consultation includes assessment of presenting issue, referral to appropriate mental health services and in-session intervention as warranted.
- Outpatient behavioral health consultation with primary care teams regarding general mental health concerns and developmental concerns about patients.
- Outpatient therapy with children, adolescent, young adults and families regarding general mental health concerns.
- Timely documentation of service provision in electronic medical record.
