Early Childhood Outpatient Treatment

Externs will have opportunities for initial intake and ongoing treatment. The extern will receive training in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), with opportunities to potentially become a PCIT-certified therapist. The extern may also gain exposure to Child Parent Psychotherapy and Applied Behavior Analysis-informed treatment. In addition to formal in-person supervision, opportunities for didactics include case conferences with child psychiatrists and clinical social workers, psychiatry grand rounds and clinical seminars.

Applicants must be in at least the third year of a doctoral program, have completed formal coursework in child development and treatment, and have had prior practicum experience with child and adolescent assessment and therapy. Preference will be given to advanced doctoral students. 

One extern will be recruited for this externship.

Given COVID-19, much of the work is done via telehealth.

Sixteen hours per week. The Early Childhood Behavioral Health Program is held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It is anticipated that this will be a one-year externship from July 2021-June 2022.
