We offer opportunities for nurses to enhance professional development in nursing practice, education, administration, and research aimed at improving patient care outcomes and patient safety.
Nursing at Children's National Hospital is integral to the mission of Care, Advocacy, Research and Education. Learn how our Nursing Residency Program, also known as our Transition to Practice Program, trains the next generation of pediatric caregivers.
Several nursing fellowships are available to those seeking advanced clinical experiences tailored to specific interests and learning needs. We offer a Neonatal Critical Care Fellowship, Critical Care Nursing Fellowship, Perioperative Fellowship and more. The length of the fellowships varies depending on the specialty.
Nurse Trainee Program (formerly called the Child Care Technician Program) is for nursing students who are at least one-half of the way through their nursing program and have completed a medical/surgical and/or pediatric clinical rotation.
This self-study program contains all the materials necessary for completing the orientation requirement except the medication calculation test.
We offer continuing education programs for nurses throughout the year. These on-site, off-site and online programs enhance professional development in nursing practice, education, administration, and research, all of which positively impact patient care outcomes and patient safety.
