The Hahn Lab studies the impact of antibiotics on microbial diversity within the airway microbiome of children with cystic fibrosis. We seek to understand how antibiotic pharmacokinetics and antibiotic resistance affect the balance of bacteria within the airways, and how information about the airway microbiome could be used to improve antibiotic prescribing.
Focus of this lab: Drosophila Models of heart, kidney and blood diseases
The Neonatal and Infant Airway Biology Laboratory at Children's National was developed to advance our knowledge of the pathobiology of respiratory disorders in young children, the number one cause of hospitalization and mortality in this age group worldwide.
Our goal is to develop next generation treatments and biomarkers for diseases in children.
