Biography

Laura Jean Olivieri, M.D. is a board-certified Pediatric Cardiologist specializing in Advanced Cardiac Imaging at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington School of Medicine. She is the Director of the 3D Cardiac Modelling Laboratory, located in the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Surgical Innovation at Children’s National. She is considered a leader in the field of 3-dimensional reconstruction of congenital heart defects from 3D imaging, including ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. She is most interested in improving MRI image acquisition in babies and children with congenital heart disease to use less radiation, less sedation while creating 3D images that can guide care through both display as well as computational modelling to understand hemodynamics. She and her talented multi-disciplinary team and their collaborators have compiled a successful grant portfolio to that end.
