Nursing Education - The Trauma Burn Service




Course: Trauma Update


Date: Friday, March 14, 2014 and Friday, October 10, 2014
Time: 7:30 am - 12:15pm
(Registration starts at 7:30am. First session begins promptly at 8:00am)
Location: Children's National Medical Center, 2nd Floor Main Auditorium
Facilitator:  Sally Wilson, RN BSN
Education Prevention and Outreach Coordinator
Overview: 4 hour continuing education program for experienced nurses and caregivers who wish to acquaint themselves with new trends and care modalities in pediatric trauma and burn. Contact hours will be provided. Changing venues is offered every Spring and Fall.
Target audience: Experienced Nurses and Care givers who wish to acquaint themselves with new trends and care modalities in pediatric trauma

  • Look for quarterly trauma burn educational activities and in-services.
  • MedScape CME; on-line articles for contact hours, are free and mailed weekly. Topics must be trauma burn related subjects. Contact hours will apply to license renewal and education requirements for trauma burn RN’s.

Course: Trauma Core Curriculum

Date: Friday, November 7, 2014
Time: 7:30 am - 4:30pm (Registration starts at 7:30am. First session begins promptly at 8:00am)
Location: Children's National Medical Center, 2nd Floor Main Auditorium
Facilitator: Sally Wilson, RN BSN
Education Prevention and Outreach Coordinator
Overview: It is an all day class for those new to pediatrics or new to Children’s Hospital. Attendees will be provided with information via lecture, discussion and case studies on  trauma system, trauma assessment, care of the pediatric burned patient, closed head injury, pediatric orthopedic injuries including compartment syndrome, forensic nursing via NAT ( non-accidental trauma).
