Hospitals and individual providers are constantly being evaluated on quality, cost and now value. This presentation introduces an alternative method to perform bench-marking evaluations using multivariate matching. A revolution has occurred over the past 10 years in the way multivariate matching is performed, allowing for a far better understanding of practice style and outcome variation across providers. New forms of multivariate matching include Template Matching, Hospital Specific Template Matching and Indirect Standardization Matching. These new tools allow hospitals to better compare quality, cost and value across institutions, and to better identify which types of patients are associated with better or worse performance when compared to other institutions.
Attendees of this session will be able to:
- Analyze a new framework for examining cost, quality, and outcomes of care at hospitals
- Discuss Template and Hospital Specific Matching for auditing hospitals
- To describe Indirect Standardization Matching for auditing hospitals.
