Extensive racial and ethnic disparities exist in the care and outcomes of children. Implicit racial bias has been cited as one factor contributing to such disparities. This educational session will present the research on implicit bias in healthcare, including its impact on disparities and diversity in academic pediatric medicine. This lecture will also review evidence supporting the benefits of increasing diversity, and review the barriers and proposed solutions for improving pediatric workforce diversity.
