Happy mothers healthy babies: Perinatal mental health matters
This week's Grand Rounds session is intended to provide an overview of mental health disorders, which are common to the perinatal period, called perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The importance and relevance of maternal mental health on the health and functioning of the family as well as the development of the child will be highlighted as the context for this presentation. A broad review of treatment and prevention approaches will help the audience appreciate the recent developments in universal depression screening as well as efforts to increase access to quality mental health care across Washington, D.C., and at Children’s National Hospital.
