Diversity day lecture 2019: The family lifestyle program (FLiP)
Lecture title: The Family Lifestyle Program (FLiP): A Novel Clinical-Community Family Centered Obesity Management Strategy
Obesity is a multisystem complex chronic disease that requires a multifaceted strategic approach. Recognizing this complexity along with our own implicit bias is essential for clinicians and hospital systems to approach the disease with sensitivity and intentionality. Clinicians are often charged with being at the forefront of care, yet often describe feeling ill-equipped and express considerable frustration with management strategies that also align with their incredibly busy workflow. FLiP is a DC-built, clinical-community initiative that aims to support families and equip clinicians with the necessary skills and tools to more effectively address the disease of obesity along with its’ associated sequellae.
