Being mindful of patients
Our most sophisticated clinical protocols and interventions are of little use if we as practitioners are not centered well enough to wield them effectively. Therefore, practices of resilience, self-care, and mindfulness are much more than irrational sentimentality, but are among our greatest clinical competencies. This Grand Rounds presentation will review the literature regarding attunement and the importance of providing presence with patients and families to develop trust, treatment adherence, and improve outcomes. Attendees will then learn and practice techniques to immediately improve their daily clinical practice.
