On this, the 244th day of the calendar year.... babies are born, children are starting school, the more precocious are planning their Halloween costumes.
Sept 1 is just another day. The day on which residency applicants can begin transmitting their applications to ACGME accredited residency programs
and the day upon which said programs can download applications.
And still, it is okay
to look over your pediatric residency application one more time before submitting.
Did your partner/best friend/mother/trusted advisor read your application?
Does it say what you want it to say and convey something meaningful about who you are and who you will be?
Did you read the FAQ's from ERAS?
Did you know you can preview
what your application will look like to program directors receiving it? Join the people for the reduction of typos.
If you have been very very tired lately, get a good night's sleep, re-read and edit it tomorrow, then
submit. If you need Labor Day weekend to finalize things, then take those few extra days.
After all, leadership at pediatrics residency programs
are busy people too. When queried, many say that they download and review the first batch of applications in early Sept, when they have time.
And then they of course continue to review additional applications as they come in. Make yours a strong one!
You are getting closer. And it gets even better. Check back soon for posts about your pediatric residency interview season. Email questions to PediatricCareer@childrensnational.org.
