Please note the Children’s National Hospital clinical rotation dates that coincide with the Advancing Diversity in Academic Pediatrics program:

• July 31 - Aug. 27, 2023
• Aug. 28 - Sept. 24, 2023
• Sept. 25 - Oct. 22, 2023

In order to participate in the Advancing Diversity in Academic Pediatrics program, you will need to participate in a rotation during this time frame. If you would require minor variations in the dates, please contact us to discuss prior to applying.

No. Please do not forget to finalize your Advancing Diversity in Academic Pediatrics application by April 28, 2023. Applications that are not completed and submitted by that date will not be considered. All supporting documents must be included. We begin our application review promptly on April 29, 2023, so we can provide funding decisions as soon as possible. We will only include documents received by April 28, 2023, in this review.

Yes. The Advancing Diversity in Academic Pediatrics application is for funding and inclusion in our additional program. The VSAS application is how we place our visiting students into clinical rotations, a key portion of the program. Please submit your rotation preferences via VSAS by April 28, 2023.

All Children’s National electives are listed under George Washington University in VSAS because we are their department of pediatrics.

No. However it does matter to how many rotations you apply. Providing more clinical rotation options within the above time frame increases the likelihood that we will be able provide an opportunity for you. You are encouraged to apply for all rotations that interest you in every time period that you are available. Acting Internships (a.k.a. subinternships) are among the most competitive. If you apply for an acting internship, you are strongly encouraged to apply for other electives as well.

An unofficial copy is acceptable but a score must be included. Simply indicating passing or not passing is not sufficient.

No. A transcript is required but an unofficial copy is sufficient for the purposes of the Advancing Diversity in Academic Pediatrics application.

Yes, one letter of recommendation is required for your application to be considered complete. Please have a faculty member who knows you clinically (rotation director, faculty who has worked with you on a rotation, pediatrics or otherwise, etc). Only letters that are received by April 28, 2023, will be considered.
