Disasters impact us all, but not all communities or populations are affected equally. This session will tackle the role of emergency preparedness in identifying and addressing health disparities created and/or exacerbated by large-scale disasters or public health emergencies.

The findings of normal and abnormal early pubertal development overlap significantly. This session will review normal puberty and common normal variations of precocious puberty that do not require extensive evaluation or treatment. Delayed puberty more often benefits from treatment. Faculty will discuss pathologic etiologies as compared to constitutional delay and diagnostic and management approaches.

Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome is being diagnosed increasingly in adolescents presenting with complaints such as syncope, mental fog, and other somatic pains. Patients frequently are seen by multiple providers and prescribed multiple medications. This didactic session will guide clinicians in the management of these patients when they are hospitalized.

Immigration is a key social and political driver of health. This program will describe health outcomes and service utilization among children in immigrant families, how race and immigration intersect to impact health policy and outcomes, and how pediatricians can engage with community partners to mitigate the impact of these systemic inequities.
