Deanna suffered from chronic migraines for years. Finally, you helped ease the pain. See why she says her therapy makes her feel like she can “keep living.”
Deanna and her family searched for answers, visiting different neurologists and trying different medications. Then, they turned to Children’s National Hospital, a world-class hospital supported by your generosity. That changed everything.
“Nothing helped until the day I met a nurse named Marian in the Pain Medicine Care Complex at Children’s National,” Deanna says.
Deanna took part in the Healing Touch program. This holistic therapy directs energy into Deanna’s body with a light touch to promote healing.
“Afterwards, I feel like I can conquer the world,” Deanna says. “Marian’s touch wipes away negative thoughts and sadness and fills me with positive energy. It’s like magic. It makes me feel like I can keep living.”
Another part of the program involves music. Deanna enjoys the sensations she experiences when she hears the sound of her therapist strumming a harp. She says, “Feeling that energy and hearing the harp’s beautiful strumming fills me with euphoria.”
Now, Deanna shares her gratitude. That extends to generous supporters like you! She says, “I’m am so grateful for everyone at the pain clinic — from Nurse Marian and Ms. Victoria to the acupuncturist, doctors and staff. It’s hard to put into words how much they’ve helped me. In a way I feel grateful to my migraines. I would never have never met such amazing people without them. I don’t know where I’d be without their help.”
