About Us

Children are our future. They need exceptional pediatric care so they can enjoy healthier lifetimes.

We are the Washington, D.C. region’s next generation of philanthropists, committed to making sure that our community’s children receive the care they need to thrive.

We are Children’s National NEXT.

When you become a NEXT member, you join a group of emerging leaders who help fuel the future of pediatric medicine. Together, we can give every child the chance to grow up stronger.

NEXT members fundraise and donate personally to support Children’s National Hospital’s groundbreaking research, innovative programs and child-centered care designed just for children and families. NEXT also hosts engaging volunteer and networking opportunities for our members. You can brighten a child’s day at a patient playdate or connect with professionals who are passionate about advancing pediatric health.

Join now by making your donation below.

NEXT in Action

NEXT advances Children’s National's fundraising goals and raises awareness in our community. We accomplish this through volunteer activities, fundraisers and educational opportunities. NEXT also hosts social activities to give members the opportunity to get to know fellow supporters and expand their networks.

+ Patient Playdates

NEXT members receive invitations to exclusive opportunities that allow them to engage with Children’s National’s patients and families. Join us for an activity at the hospital that will bring joy to patients, siblings and their families.

+ Dancing After Dark

Our annual fundraising gala raises more than $175,000 for the families that Children’s National serves. Join members of the D.C. community for an evening of hors d’oeuvres, dancing and desserts—and raise funds for a great cause. For questions, please contact Kaitlyn Salazar at KSalazar@childrensnational.org.

Meet the Co-Chairs

 Katharine Hayes

How did you become involved in NEXT and why is it important to support Children’s National?
Growing up in D.C., I had many friends and family treated at and saved by Children’s National. When I was looking to give back to my local community, Children’s was the first place I thought of and NEXT was the perfect fit. NEXT provides young professionals an opportunity to develop their philanthropic skills, from fundraising dollars to volunteering time, all to benefit children.

What do you get out of being involved with NEXT?
NEXT provides an opportunity for me to support my community, be creative and engage with like-minded professionals who are passionate about advancing pediatric health. It feels good knowing our efforts are helping patients and their families through what is most likely the scariest time of their lives. I have also learned that no donation is too small. Little gestures can go a long way – making even one kid smile matters.

How long have you been a part of NEXT?
I have been a part of NEXT since 2016.

What is your role as co-chair?
I role is to create new opportunities for NEXT members to support Children’s National and grow into the next generation of philanthropists.

As a resident of D.C., I am involved in NEXT to support and raise money for families in need, who may not otherwise have access to a top-tier medical system.

How long have you been a part of NEXT?
I have been actively involved since 2016.

Why is it important to support Children’s National?
NEXT represents the next generation of philanthropy for Children’s National. It is our job to ensure the future strength of such a vital D.C. organization by cultivating and educating future philanthropists.

What is your role as co-chair?
As co-chairs, it is our job to help introduce new members to the hospital, organize events and get-togethers (such as Dancing After Dark) and act as the liaison between the hospital foundation and our NEXT community.
