The team at the Joseph E. Robert, Jr., Center for Surgical Care is dedicated to providing treatment that quickly addresses medical needs with minimal disruption of children’s lives. Children’s features advanced operating rooms, equipped with robotics for minimally invasive procedures; real-time video recording and teleconference capability; 3D printing; and high-definition imaging with endoscopic cameras for diagnostic scans.
The surgeons of Children’s National perform some 18,000 surgeries annually in Washington, Maryland, and Virginia. With this depth of experience, they are able to develop new programs, build sustainable support, and create devices that solve medical issues.
Our surgery team is composed of more than 90 pediatric surgical specialists spanning many disciplines, including anesthesiology; emergency trauma and burn services; gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition; general and thoracic surgery; ophthalmology; orthopedic surgery and sports medicine; otolaryngology; pain medicine; plastic and reconstructive surgery; and urology.
The Joseph E. Robert, Jr., Center for Surgical Care is complemented by the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation at Children’s National. Through translational research initiatives, we are challenging the boundaries of traditional medicine and working to make surgery more precise, less invasive, and pain-free.
