Mark your calendar to see the Mason Patriots Ice Hockey team play former conference rival, the Virginia Commonwealth University Rams, in a charity game to benefit Children's National.
Tickets are on sale now for $10 each and can be purchased from any member of the Mason hockey team or coaching staff or by emailing gmuicehockey1@gmail.com. Ticket purchases and direct donations to the foundation can also be made through their event page on Eventbrite.
At the game, there will be raffles, prizes, and a silent auction with memorabilia from local professional sports teams, including the Washington Capitals, the Washington Nationals and the Washington Wizards! All proceeds will go to the Children’s National.
Last season, Mason finished with an 8-5-0 record against division teams, and 13-7-1-1 overall, earning them a Top 10 ranking (8th) and a spot at Regionals for the first time in program history. This year, the team won all three preseason games and is 12-1-0 in the regular season. Mason is currently ranked second in the ACHA Atlantic Region. They’re also ranked first in the Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference (DVCHC) National Division, thanks to a 7-0-0 conference record, with 51 goals for and 21 against. The VCU Rams are part of the Blue Ridge Hockey Conference (BRCHC). They last faced Mason for the Commonwealth Cup in February 2016 in what turned out to be a tense battle. Tyler D’Agostino scored the tie-breaking goal with 28 seconds left in the game to lift Mason to a 2-1 victory.
