The Children's National Division of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences provides a wide range of mental health services to youth residing all across the DC metro area. The Division has more than 20,000 outpatient visits yearly and offers specialized programs for children and adolescents with feeding and eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, and autism. Children's National is also the site of one of the oldest support programs in the country for gender nonconforming youth. In addition, children in mental health crisis are able to receive services on the inpatient unit and in the emergency department. The division provides mental health services to children hospitalized at Children's National with physical health conditions and collaborates with primary care clinics and schools to offer psychiatric services in those settings as well.
