Eight years after surviving a life-threatening accident, Chase Essex spoke at the 2016 Children's Ball to express his gratitude for his doctors, nurses, and care team. When he was 3 years old, Chase accidentally swallowed lye and damaged his esophagus. After more than 30 surgeries, he's still treated at Children's National, but he doesn't let having a trach slow him down. Watch a video of his story.
