Corporate Partner Spotlight: Timothy Lowery

In our monthly Corporate Partner Spotlight, we speak with corporate leaders about what inspires them to serve as advocates and ambassadors for children’s health. This month, we spoke with Timothy Lowery, Director & General Manager, Hines. Timothy leads the CityCenterDC Project in downtown Washington, D.C.

Timothy is a commercial real estate executive and two-time Emmy Award winning executive producer. After moving from New York in 2008, he has deeply invested in the Washington, D.C., community and culture, through his work and board positions for Children’s National Hospital, The Washington Ballet and the National Symphony Orchestra. Children’s National leadership, patients and their families have inspired him to extend his commitment to help local children thrive.

Why do you support Children’s National as a member of the Corporate Advisory Council?

 

Very soon after moving to Washington, D.C., in 2008, I shared a table with Kurt Newman, M.D., President and CEO of Children’s National, at an event. During that evening, Kurt and so many others at the table spoke of Children’s National’s important mission. I was very impressed with all that I heard and decided that I wanted to learn more about this amazing organization. 

Now fourteen years later, I have had the privilege to meet so many of the talented Children’s National team members. I’ve also seen first-hand the critical work that they do as one of the premier hospitals and research centers for children in the Washington, D.C., region and beyond. Serving on the Corporate Advisory Council has allowed me to deepen my involvement and support of Children’s National and see how the hospital and its team of professionals excel in care, advocacy, research and education -- and ultimately improve health outcomes for children.  

Can you tell us about CityCenterDC’s support for Children’s National?

 

As a significant cultural center in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C., CityCenterDC has an ongoing commitment to the community that we serve. Our partnership with and support of Children’s National enable us to give back to the community in an impactful way. We use special moments at the Center, such as our holiday programming, to heighten awareness of Children’s National and work closely with our retailers to coordinate activations to raise critical funds for hospital.  

What’s the most rewarding part of working with Children’s National? 

Having the opportunity to meet and talk with families whose lives have been positively impacted by the hospital has been the most rewarding part of working with Children’s National. I have observed that whether the families have faced pediatric cancer, heart disease, blood disorders or just a broken bone, they always want to share their deep appreciation for Children’s National. It really brings home the reality that when you give to Children’s National, you truly change a child’s life and make a difference for their entire family.
