We celebrate this milestone with all who have shaped Children’s National — our staff, patient families and generous donors.
Volunteer founders opened our doors in the nation’s capital with 12 beds after the Civil War. Today, we’re one of America’s top children’s hospitals. U.S. News & World Report ranked us among the top-10 Best Children’s Hospitals and No. 1 for newborn care four years in a row. Our 150th birthday is an opportunity to reflect on our history and build a stronger future for all children.
- Our world-class clinical care is strengthened by technology innovations, cutting-edge discovery and top-tier providers and research scientists
- Expansions in primary care, especially in neighborhoods with the greatest needs, mean more children have access to resources that help them to be healthy and succeed
- When a child is seriously ill or injured, an entire lifetime hangs in the balance; our 1,300+ active research projects lead to new treatments and cures that benefit children everywhere
Together, we can create brighter futures for the next 150 years.Back to 150 Years Stronger
