Safeway Foundation Provides $50,000 for Pediatric Cancer Research

Friday, September 22, 2017

Earlier this month, the Safeway Foundation presented Children’s National Health System with a $50,000 grant to advance innovative treatments to fight cancer using the patient’s own immune system.
“Children's National is one of the only institutions in the area that provides these cutting-edge immunotherapy treatments for cancer,” said pediatric oncologist Dr. Hema Dave, who is leading the research funded by Safeway Foundation. “We’re grateful that the Safeway Foundation is helping us improve these treatments so more kids can overcome cancer.”
The Safeway Foundation has donated more than $250,000 to Children’s National since 2012. Last year, Albertsons Companies Foundation and its 12 subsidiaries, including the Safeway Foundation, donated more than $18 million to improve the quality of life of their customers and the communities they serve.
