Winter Storm Jonas is No Match for Doctors and Nurses at Children’s National

During the historic snowfall that came with Winter Storm Jonas, most offices, schools, and even the federal government were closed for several days. But not Children's National. With a careful plan and a team of dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff, Children's National kept its main campus and its two emergency rooms open throughout the storm -- operating 24 hours with no interruption of care. Philanthropy provides critical funds needed for whatever children need, at any time. Because of the support of our donors, we know that we can give children and families the care they need.

During the storm, we cared for 260 inpatients. More than 500 staff members slept at the hospital for the entire weekend. Others biked or walked to and from the hospital in the storm. Our facilities and security teams worked overtime to keep the parking lots and driveways clear.
